Jerry W. Doss is the lead pastor of Abundant Faith Christian Center (AFCC) in Springfield, IL. He is man with vision.  He was ordained in 1983 and assisted his father, the senior pastor of Victory Temple C.O.G.I.C, in Springfield, IL. He credits his parents’ consistent support throughout his life as a major factor in his spiritual development.

In 1993, with faith in God and four committed families, Pastor Doss led a home-based Bible study focused on the message of love, grace, salvation and faith. His family room wasn’t big enough to contain all that God had in store. After outgrowing several buildings for worship, they purchased a 32 acre campus in the spring of 1998. People continue to find Christ and refuge at Abundant Faith Christian Center.  On April 12, 1998 – Easter Sunday – AFCC broke ground to build its current facility; just 8 months later, AFCC held its first service at its current site. Fifteen years later, Abundant Faith is still thriving as a multi-cultural, non-denominational, contemporary ministry with over 1000 in weekly attendance.

Pastor Doss has a genuine heart to see people walking in the fullness of all that God has promised in His Word. As a businessman and philanthropist, he has a passion for restoring people and families in the community. He has implemented numerous community initiatives to help set people on a course to victorious living.

In April 1995, in an effort to revitalize the community AFCC purchased an old, dilapidated King’s Inn Motel and renovated it to provide affordable housing for low-income families, veterans, and individuals in crisis.  The Haven House (1999) and the Haven Apartments (2006) were established out of a desire to provide a safe place for women and children in transition.  Then in 2007 the Men’s House was established to help men who are in crisis or homeless.

In 2006, in an effort to help people become financially independent and build wealth, Pastor Doss and AFCC partnered with Springfield Postal Credit Union and established Financial Partners Credit Union, to foster financial freedom to its members.

Pastor Doss has a vision for caring for seniors and this vision led to the creation of senior living facilities that offer first-class housing at an affordable rate. And in January 2008, Timberlake Estates Independent Living Facility opened its doors to 67 senior citizens. In March 2009 a second facility, Timberlake Estates Supportive Living Facility opened which offers seniors assistance with daily activities. Under his leadership and direction, AFCC has developed 30 million dollars in community service facilities for families.

Aside from staying actively over ministry, he has established a voice within the community by serving on several boards including the American Cancer Society, United Way, Prison Fellowship, Springfield Urban League, the Springfield Community Relations Commission. If you ask Pastor Doss how he handles these important roles and challenges in his life, he is quick to respond, “I walk by faith and not by sight.”

Pastor Doss has been married to his wife and partner in ministry, Gita, for 30 years. They are the proud parents of three.

What We Believe Print E-mail

That the Bible in its entirety is the inspired Word of God and it is authoritative and inerrant in its teaching in all manners.

In the divinity of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who are eternally present as one God in three persons.

That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father.  That he was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  That he was crucified, died and buried.  That He rose on the third day according to the Scriptures and is now seated in the heavenly realms at the right hand of the Father where He lives to make intercession for the Saints.

That all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and thereby deserve death and hell.  That God commands all people everywhere to repent and be converted for the forgiveness of sin.

That eternal life is a gift from God to all who receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

That Holiness is God's standard of living for His people; for without holiness no man will see God.

In the baptism with the Holy Spirit to empower Saints for the work of ministry.

That divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

That as an act of obedience all believers be water baptized by immersion in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit in
the Name of Jesus.

In bodily resurrection: eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.

In the Priesthood of the New Testament believer.
