Before there was ever a Rufus or Chaka Khan, before the lyrics of a song could ever be thought of by man, before there was a “summer breeze, or moonlight to tease”, God declares, “I wanna give you an everlasting love, I wanna fill your life with a satisfying love”. Jesus said, “I have come that you might have life, and life more abundantly”. John 10:10
An “Everlasting Love”, is a love that is very difficult for the human mind to define. It’s a love that is eternal. No power is stronger. It is unbreakable! Love is that essential element in life that gives life meaning. With love, no matter what life brings we can face it with courage and hope. God is Love.
God’s love for us will never die, it is eternal. God is speaking to Israel in this passage of scripture but it also applies to those who are in Christ Jesus. He says,”I have loved you with an everlasting love”. Did you get that? Past Tense! He doesn’t say, “I will love you” although that is implied. God is eternal so He is not simply stating, I have loved you from your birthdate, but, before your earth date, before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I set my love on you! God is saying, you are not an afterthought, accident or a mistake. I loved you before the foundation of the world, in eternity past. My love for you is an everlasting love.
This scripture points out that God is not indifferent to you or me. To God, love is a personal matter!
When God loves, it is forever, and ever! It’s the kind of love that is beyond our comprehension. We don’t deserve it, but His love for us remains the same. In this life we will never fully understand this kind of love, but, we can rest in it. His love is based on His character and His character never changes.
Hold on to the truth of God’s love for you. He knew your faults before He made you, but that didn’t change His love towards you. This world is temporary this is not our home. God’s love is everlasting, it covers our past, the present, our future and beyond our time here on earth. His love is eternal!
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
