Love is Sacrificial

Date

“God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 NIV

This week I have been reminiscing about my teenage experiences with my Aunt Germaine. I had thoughts of how she took time out of her very busy schedule to show me how to improve my sewing skills. How to choose your thread, sew a straight stitch, use a pattern, sew on a button, what tools were needed, etc.

She would purchase all the needed material with her own limited funds. I can envision us now laughing and giggling about making a dress or pattern that was too small for both of us, in that cold backroom of my grandmother’s house.

I was so blessed that she took time out of her day to mentor, be a friend as well as an aunt to me.  She sacrificed her time and money to leave and indelible positive imprint on my life. So, with tears in my eyes I say, “Rest in Heaven Aunt Germaine, thank you for demonstrating your love toward me”.

Oh when I think about the love of God, to leave his throne in glory, come down to earth and walk among us demonstrating his love: teaching, healing, delivering, preparing to die for you and me. Yes! It was a sacrifice and he did it out of love. He gave us the perfect pattern to stitch life together, left on record the thread needed, His Holy Spirit and the tools in His Word to live. He came that we might have life and life more abundantly while on earth and an opportunity to spend eternity with him.

Love is not always convenient sometimes we will have to give up something. What are you willing to give up, to demonstrate your love to others?  Just remember, God made the greatest sacrifice.
