The Believers Walk of Love

Date

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowances for each other’s faults because of your love.” Ephesians 4:2 NLT

Love is in the air; we are a few days away from Valentine’s Day.  People all over the world will be exchanging cards, boxes of candy and flowers. The first two weeks of February will see over 100 million sold in florist and stores across America.  Valentine’s Day is the number one holiday for florists with men being the top customers.

As we approach Valentine’s Day my thought for you is, “make allowances for those that are close to you”.

I thank God for giving me my sweet and caring husband, Calvin. He is not perfect but he is PERFECT for me.  It’s the small everyday things that bring me the most joy. However, it’s also sometimes the little things that offend me most. Things, like pretending to be listening to me when he is not. I do not know why we have the tendency to give less grace to our spouses, those closest to us, than we sometimes do for a co-worker or a stranger.

Sometimes I feel like my husband should always know how I feel, without me telling him. We’ve been married for 37 years and he should be able to read my mind and finish my sentences by now, (“And the two shall become one”).

Let me be perfectly honest, even my adult kids get on my nerves when they try to correct me or think they know more than I do. You know this is extremely offensive since, “I know everything” LOL.

As I go through some of my old journals, I realize, I am still having some of the same spiritual battles of my past. Yet God continues to give me a second, third, fourth chance, chance after chance. I can hear Him now saying, “Here she comes again with the same old struggles, but I love her anyway”.

Thank you, Lord for making allowances for me and listening to me.

MAKE ALLOWANCES FOR THOSE YOU LOVE, REMEMBER YOU ARE NOT PERFECT EITHER!!!
